UPCOMING EVENTS
Come visit us at Behind the Mask Studio and experience a closer look at what we’ve been creating. We’ll have a selection of pieces on display along with some items available for sale, so you can explore the work up close and even take something home with you. As part of this larger, city-wide event, artists will be spread out across different locations—but you can find us right outside our studio, where we’ve been creating since 2003. It’s a chance to see what Behind the Mask is all about, meet us, and be part of the creative energy that’s been growing here for years!

old Mr. Toad Premiere
Come see the premiere of Old Mr. Toad's Nature Stories & Songs—a special debut where our custom-designed Toad costume comes to life through storytelling, songs, and puppetry. This event is huge for us because it brings the character we've poured so much heart into to the stage for the first time, sharing nature-inspired tales in a fun, family-friendly way. Join us on Sunday, May 31 at 2pm at the Lanesville Community Center (8 Vulcan St, Gloucester MA).

All Behind the Mask Studio face wear, costumes, and accessories are created and supported in our studio by local artists and designers.

-
We have been making costumes for our own productions for 20 years. We now offer a full range of costume services and rentals. For our latest project we created 40 costumes for Contemporary Theater of Boston's production of "Midsummer Night's Dream".
-
Many of our masks are available for rental. This is an ideal way to gain the use of dramatic masks with a limited budget. Perfect for theater, dance, and opera companies, video production, musical groups, and party events.
-
We offer a variety of wire framed ½, ¾ and full-face masks, as well as helmet masks, forehead masks, body masks, and more.
Our mask line also includes unframed fabric masks that are lightweight, inexpensive, and suitable for parties and play. -
Let your artistic visions come to life with Behind the Mask's custom casting and mold making. We work with silicone, urethane, plaster, and other materials to create molds for masks, props, and body castings, including pregnancy casting (we recommend silicone casting for pregnancy cast).
We also create personalized portrait and double portrait masks cast from life, for birthdays, weddings, Valentines Day, and other special occasions. -
Behind the Mask Studio offers mask and sculpture repair for artworks in a variety of media. Our masks are made to our exacting construction standards. Even so, masks must be treated with care. We offer a limited warranty on all masks that we sell, which includes refitting and minor repirs due to normal wear and tear.
